Disaster Preparedness

The American Red Cross of Orange County is hosting its 24th Annual Disaster Preparedness Academy to provide information to the community regarding preparedness planning, mitigation, response skills and recovery operations for a crisis. Full day of 20 diverse workshops that address a variety of emergency and disaster-related topics including wildfires, earthquakes, evacuations and mass-casualty situations. Presentations from three key emergency preparedness experts: Lucy Jones, Ph.D., chief scientist, U.S. Geological Survey; Doug Watson, director, Security and Emergency Services, Disney-land Resort; and Scott Brown, battalion chief, Orange County Fire Authority. 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Pre-registration costs vary based on the type of group. Business cost is $170 and non-profit and government cost is $130. On-site registration is $195 for all groups. A group rate is available for registrants with five or more people.
