Viet Dzung became famous in the “boat people” era, at the end of theVietnam War in April 1975, when millions of South Vietnamese fled the country by boat in search of freedom, many died at sea and many more made their new home in California.

His song "Chút Quà cho Quê Hương" (a little gift sent to my homeland) became an instant hit, and his name became a household name in Vietnamese communities worldwide soon afterward.

Viet Dzung other famous songs include “Lời Kinh Đêm,” “Mời Em Về”...

Viet Dzung's real name is Nguyễn Ngọc Hùng Dũng. He was born in 1958, and is equally loved for his dedication to the Vietnamese refugee communities aboard, as well as for his commitment to fighting for freedom and human rights for people in Vietnam.

After leaving Little Saigon Radio, Viet Dzung started and has been with Bolsa Radio in 1996. His voice, reporting and many special programs has been the main attraction of Bolsa Radio ever since.

Viet Dzung will be missed by many Vietnamese everywhere. (H.G.)
