Japanese teacher killed in Vietnam traffic accident

A Japanese teacher was hit by a bus and died on Monday when she was crossing the street at the bus stop  in front of Ben Thanh Market, Sai Gon.

Kakinuma Joji, who reportedly had leg disability and walked with crutches, was crossing the street to take a bus back to her home in District 7 at 3.30 pm, when she tumbled and fell and was run over by an arriving bus, witnesses said. She was killed on the spot.

An unidentified student, who was helping her to cross the street, luckily stayed unharmed, the Tuoi Tre newspaper reported.

Police are investigating.
