Romanian striker Voinea Petrisor opened the scoring after just 11 minutes at Ninh Binh Stadium before Phan Anh Tuan doubled Ninh Binh’s advantage just after half-time.

And with Le Van Thang and Kavin Bryan rounding off the scoring, Ninh Binh comfortably secured a fourth win of the campaign to seal a place in the knockout stage although Nguyen Van Sy’s side are not yet secured of top spot and home advantage in the one-off Round of 16 tie next month.

“I satisfied with everything, my players’ motivation, their playing attitude and of course the result,” said Ninh Binh coach Van Sy.

“I believed in a victory, but the result really surprised me. This is the first game we did not concede any goals.

“Now I can think more about the V.League games, but we still need to get at least one more point to be sure that we are in the first spot in the group.”

Having beaten Kelantan 3-2 in Malaysia last month, Ninh Binh made the ideal start to the return fixture as Petrisor converted from just outside the area following good work from Bryan after just 11 minutes.
