Perspective (RE)defining Asian American experience

“Perspective (RE)Defining the Asian American Experience” will be on display Saturday, Oct. 19, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at the Neighborhood House, 179 Robie Street E., St. Paul, MN 55107-2360.

The event showcasing Asian American and Pacific Islander artwork is free and open to the public. A reception will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. followed by the film presentation from 8 to 9:30 p.m.

The Perspectives showcases work by filmmaker Elijah Chhum, writer and spoken word poet Chay Douangphouxay, photographer Joseph Hang, printmaker Jade Hoyer, filmmaker Joua Lee, and screenwriter Ying Lee, recipients of the 2013 Legacy Fellowship through the Council of Asian Pacific Minnesotans and the Minnesotan Humanities Center.

This collection offers unique commentary on what it means to be Asian-American, showcasing diverse perspectives on the artists’ shared and individual experiences as Asian-Americans.
