Saigon players get ready for the Asia Expat Pool Challenge

Saigon legends from Vietnam were the surprise package at last year’s Asia Expat Pool Challenge, finishing third in the team event. Their top two qualifying players will represent the Saigon Pool League in this year’s Asia Expat Pool Challenge — Super 12’s Singles Championship being held in Jakarta on May 10.

Lin Cheng Hung, 32 years old, is a Taiwanese who has been playing pool since 12. He was exposed to the competitive pool scene in Taipei, always hanging out after school with his friends around various pool clubs playing and learning about pool. Taking part in many small local competitions and winning some of them in the highly competitive Taiwan pool scene gave him some invaluable experience and the drive to play better. His passion for the game has just kept growing since.


In 1990, his family relocated to Vietnam and he has been helping out with the family business ever since. This did not stop his passion for the game, even though he was new to Vietnam and could not speak the local language. He soon found some local pool clubs and made new pool friends. In recent years, he even partnered with a fellow pool enthusiast, and they started their own small pool club in Saigon.  He will be bringing his unmistakable excellent Taiwanese skills to the table.
