Matthew Nguyen, 22, of San Mateo, pleaded not guilty to charges related to robbery, assault and vandalism after a robbery in February and his subsequent arrest where he is accused of taking a swing at an officer and vandalizing his holding cell, prosecutors said.

The robbery reportedly occurred Feb. 26 about 5:45 p.m. when a 16-year-old girl was doing her homework in her home in San Mateo at her dining room table when she looked up and saw a man outside the patio window pointing a gun at her, prosecutors said. The suspect is alleged to have yelled through the window “Just get money.”

The victim screamed for her father and the suspect kept repeating his demand for money, prosecutors said. The victim took a dollar out of her pocket and opened the door a crack and held it out for the suspect, who took the dollar and fled the scene.
