Volunteers needed to serve on Orange County grand jury

WESTMINSTER, Calif. (NV) – The Orange County Superior Court is seeking volunteers to serve on the grand jury.

The call for residents of Orange County to apply for volunteers is an annual event, and the deadline for applications is Jan. 26, 2018. Those who are selected will begin their one-year term on Jun. 29, 2018.

Applicants must be:

  • At least 18 years old
  • A U.S. citizen
  • A resident of Orange County for at least one year
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Of sound judgment and good character, and have a sense of fairness

Applicants under consideration will undergo a background checked by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and will be interviewed by Superior Court judges. A 19-member grand jury will be selected randomly from a pool of 30 nominated candidates.

As required by law, each supervisory district will have an equal representation of grand jurors, who will receive a minimum stipend of $50 a day and reimbursement for mileage.
