Two elementary schools won top-three awards and eight student readers placed among the top 100 individuals nationally in the myON second annual Summer SuperHero reading program.

CFISD placed fourth in the total number of students appearing in the top 100 nationally. The program, which featured 65,000 students in 4,200 schools, challenged participants to read as much as possible from May 15 to Aug. 15 using the myON Reader software.
Farney Elementary School placed second in the nation, winning an interactive white board from Steelcase Education.
“We were thrilled to learn that we had placed second in the myON SuperHero Summer Reading Program,” said Farney principal Tricia Reilly. “Winning the interactive white board will enhance our schoolwide focus on increasing student engagement through the use of technology.”
Birkes Elementary School placed third in the nation, winning a free, one-year subscription to the myON elementary school publisher bundle.
“Birkes’ theme this year is ‘Super Heroes: We have the POWER to make a difference!’ When we heard the news that we placed third in the myOn Summer SuperHero Reading Program, we realized Birkes’ super power is reading!” said Birkes principal Dr. Carla Brosnahan. “Our students and their families will be so excited to learn they have a subscription to continue using myOn all year.”
