When he was just 10 years old, Vo was playing basketball in a friend’s backyard when he slam-dunked the ball, bringing the hoop, brick wall and gutters crashing down, severing both his hands and his left foot.
Although his foot could not be saved, doctors at Princess Margaret Hospital reattached his hands, enabling him to ultimately regain full movement in them.
Now 19 and studying biomedical science at the University of WA, Vo hopes to inspire again, but this time through music.
The Mirrabooka teenager found out this week that he has made it through to the live auditions of this year’s The X Factor.
