JACKSON, Mississippi — Phi Theta Kappa has named Tina Nguyen, a student from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jackson County Campus, as a 2014 Guistwhite Scholars Award Recipient. Only 20 students in the nation received this award, and were chosen based on academic achievement, leadership accomplishment, and engagement in Phi Theta Kappa programs. The 20 recipients for 2014 were selected by a panel of independent judges from more than 1,700 applicants to receive this scholarship, the second highest offered by Phi Theta Kappa.

This is the third time a student from MGCCC’s Jackson County Campus has received the annual award.
“It is always exciting for one of our students to receive such a prestigious award that recognizes academic achievement and leadership,” Dr. Mary S. Graham, MGCCC president said. “Tina is an outstanding student that has the opportunity to accomplish great things. I am happy MGCCC could be a part of her success.”
