BEDFORD, Mass. ― Dave Nugent saw the grenade flashes the night in 1967 and knew he needed to get help for his wounded comrades. He grabbed for his rifle but didn’t realize the grenade had blown the fingers off of his land hand. He shot at the enemy with his right hand, then ran to summon assistance. Just this week and now 72, he received his Bronze Star for heroism.
