On Saturday, March 15, thousands of Orange County families will take part in a free community resource fair hosted by The California Endowment in partnership with Intuit Financial Freedom Foundation, and other local community partners. This event will help individuals and families learn about health coverage options under the Affordable Care Act. The focus of the event is to provide free enrollment assistance for low-cost and no-cost health coverage programs like Medi-Cal and other options available through Covered California. The deadline to enroll in healthcare coverage is March 31, 2014.

The WE Connect Resource Fair brings together dozens of additional resources to one location, making it easy for attendees to access services that include free tax preparation assistance, medical and dental screenings, CalFresh enrollment, and other services. Free tax preparation will be provided for low-income families in advance of the federal tax deadline. A healthy food giveaway will also be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The event is part of The California Endowment’s “Asegúrate” or “Get Covered” initiative, a comprehensive outreach and enrollment campaign targeting California’s uninsured population, which is largely Latino. This event is part of a series across targeted counties with large populations of uninsured residents, and supports The California Endowment’s Building Healthy Communities 10-year initiative.
