Yushuai Wu, 26, from Woodville Park, and Tien Quoc Pham, 23, from Dudley Park, have pleaded guilty to an aggravated charge of intentionally causing harm to Callum Skinner last September at a karaoke bar in Hindley Street.
In a District Court sentence hearing on Friday, prosecutor Nina Eliseo described the attack as extremely serious, noting Wu had prior convictions for assaults at karaoke bars in the same street.
“It has had a devastating impact on the victim, physically, emotionally and financially,” she said.
In a victim impact statement, Mr Skinner said he sustained serious facial fractures, underwent reconstructive surgery, had ongoing vision problems and had to eat from a straw for a month.
“I now struggle in being in crowded places and bars and often have to go home early,” he said.
