An Amphitheater High School graduate was honored Saturday by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Kevin Nguyen is one of eight D-backs Helios Scholars, recognized for being an academically gifted student with stories of personal triumph, leadership, strength, hope and perseverance.
The award winners — all of whom are first generation college students — each received four-year college scholarships, a laptop, a bike and a D-backs backpack.
