In this Tech Tuesday, Austin grown technology is saving the city water and money. In every city, every neighborhood, on every street you see them day after day: Sprinklers jetting gallon after gallon of precious water in Central Texas.

During times of drought every drop is even more important. That’s why water utilities implement restriction: Certain days for certain addresses and certain times of the day. Break those rules and it can cost you.
Austin Water Utility charges between $75 and $500 for every violation.
Last year, the Austin Water Utility reported 461 violations that cost property owners more than $11,000.
This year the penalties have skyrocketed. There have been nearly 266 violations so far, costing more than $161,000.
“Your city tells you only water once a week, you better water once a week,” said Dzuy Nguyen of BlueSpray. He invented technology that will keep you from getting one of those violations and save water at the same time. He’s bringing high tech to the sprinkler.
