The Vietnamese International Film Festival will resume Thursday and run through Sunday after a successful opening weekend.

Actress Van Trang, center, is joined by VAALA Executive Director Ysa Le (left) and actress Kieu Chinh at the screening of ‘Scandal.’ That is one of two films starring Trang to show at the Vietnamese International Film Festival.

Among the highlights was the screening of “Blood Letter,” starring Van Trang, who made her first visit to the United States for the festival.

A crowd of close to 100 people came out to see Trang, 23, who also stars in another festival film, “Scandal.” In Viet Nam, Trang started in televisions dramas and now acts exclusively in movies.

“I have  never been to Hollywood, but I can imagine it would be similar to this event,” she said upon her arrival at the festival.

“It’s good to see I have fans out of my country,” said Trang, adding will take that trip to the Hollywood area before she returns home, visiting Universal Studios.

Comparing movies in the two countries, she said there isn’t a lot of difference.

“ I see it as similar, and the directors try their best to make the movie good,” Trang said. For information about movie screenings and locations, visit www.vietfilmfest.com.
