Parenting OC magazine will host the 2013 Summer Opportunities Jamboree on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The annual event features more than 70 exhibitors and is Orange County’s largest such fair, offering parents an opportunity to plan their family’s summer activities face-to-face with representatives from outdoor summer camps, family travel destinations and performing arts programs.
This year, the theme and entertainment at the event is centered on sports and fitness activities for the entire family. It will be held at the Next Level Sports Complex, 12821 Knott St., in Garden Grove, Calif.
“We are joining Parenting OC to help inspire parents and children to get more involved with sports and fitness, and to take advantage of what summer camps and other programs are offering in O.C., to get active and have fun,” said Next Level CEO Jason Brennan.
Other attractions at the event include Parenting OC’s Cutest Kid Cover Contest, sports and fitness demonstrations and a family fun zone. Scheduled to appear are the Minions from the upcoming film “Despicable Me 2,” and TV’s newest dance star, 7-year-old Asia Monet Ray from the Lifetime show, Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition.
Parking is $5, and 100 percent of that fee will be donated to benefit Empty Benches, a nonprofit dedicated to youth sports involvement and a source of funding to athletes who otherwise would not be able to participate.
