The statistics were released, last Friday, as part of a survey on tourism trends conducted by VNAT with support from an EU-funded tourism development project.
The report’s findings were based on interviews with 1,543 international and local tourists at five tourism spots; Hue, Danang, Hoi An, and Sapa, during March and April, this year.
The survey estimated an average spend of USD102.3 a day for international travellers, while the domestic tourist spend was considerably less at USD65 a day.
Halong City, renowned for its iconic Halong Bay in the northern province of Quang Ninh, recorded the highest spend at USD125.1 a day for international travellers and USD75 a day for local travellers.
Meanwhile, the central city of Hue recorded the lowest spend for international visitors at USD75.6 a day.
