The airports that stand to benefit from the fee cue are Phu Bai near Hue, Lien Khuong in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, Cam Ranh near Nha Trang, Phu Quoc and Can Tho.

Additionally, under the agreement, international airlines will be given the OK to fly into the airports without restrictions, except for those in Hanoi, Saigon and Da Nang.

Among the five affected airports, only Cam Ranh and Can Tho have international flights. Airlines have shied away from those destinations because of substandard ground services, which the tourism-sector leaders have promised to improve, along with tourism services.

Currently, three domestic airlines and 51 foreign carriers fly international routes to and from Vietnam.
