SAIGON — The Yonex Sunrise — Vietnam Open 2014 badminton tournament will kick off here from September 1 to 9, attracting 272 players from 15 countries and territories, according to state-run Vietnam News Agency on Friday.

Players will compete in five categories of men’s and women’s single, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles events for a total prize of 50,000 U.S. dollars.
Indonesia will send the most players (74), followed by the host Vietnam (46) and Malaysia (45).
Top Vietnamese player Nguyen Tien Minh is seeded No.3 at this year’s tournament, after he dropped to No.30 in the world ranking, while Rumbaka from Indonesia is seeded No 1., according to Saigon Badminton Federation.
