Vietnamese Alliance Church holds services, despite fire

Because of an Aug. 24 fire, the Vietnamese Alliance Church in St. Petersburg held its services outdoors Sunday. The church building at 4344 21st St. N is unusable. “This is like our home,” said longtime pastor Truong V. Bon, as translated by his daughter, Linhca Truong.

Although the church regularly works with contractors for minor repairs, “This is beyond our capability to bring it to a usable condition,” treasurer Tom Ho said.


The church, which has about 175 members, has not decided whether it will rebuild or relocate, according to the treasurer.
