Asian Americans Advancing Justice has released a report examining whether counties complied with their obligations to provide language assistance to Asian American voters during the 2012 election. The report said that 45 percent of the polls had low visibility or no translated materials at the polling places. Also, the polling places lacked bilingual poll workers as well.

According to the American Voting Rights Act, the jurisdictions must provide language translations if the county has a high ethnic group as determined by the U.S. Census Bureau. Language assistance must be provided before and on Election Day. It also should include bilingual poll workers and translated materials at polling places.
