Three men who escaped from the Orange County Men’s Central Jail had outside help, according to Sheriff Sandra Hutchens.

The Sheriff’s Department arrested five people Wednesday with connections to the escapees and who may have helped smuggle cutting tools into the jail, Hutchens said. The names of those arrested have not yet been released.
Hutchens said she has not ruled out the possibility that the escapees had “inside help” from jail guards or other jail employees.
The three escapees — Hossein Nayeri, Jonathan Tieu and Bac Duong — are still at large.
They are also considered to be armed and very dangerous, according to sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock.
Tieu, a 20-year-old member of the Tiny Rascal Gang or TRG, was being held at the Orange County Central Men’s Jail on charges of murder.
Investigators suspect he was one of several TRG members that shot and killed Scottie Bui, 19, an alleged member of the Power of Vietnam or POV gang in March 2011. Tieu was 16 at the time.
