A Texas man has been sentenced to 45 years behind bars for shooting his stepdaughter’s biological father after he brought her home two hours late. Mohammed Awde, 28, was found guilty of murdering Kevin Nguyen in Fort Worth on the night of December 22, 2013, reported the Star Telegram. Awde shot Nguyen after he failed to have the seven-year-old girl back for the agreed curfew of 8pm, the prosecution said.

Awde was also give an $8,000 fine.
His defense had originally argued that he had shot Nguyen because he was in ‘fear of his life’ but this was rejected by the jury.
On the evening of the incident, Nguyen had taken his daughter on an outing to look at Christmas lights and when Nguyens’ mother had asked if the daughter could stay out later, she was told that Awde said she must to be home by the strict curfew of 8pm.
Police said Awde then waited for two hours in his garage for Nguyen to return and then confronted him outside his car.
The young girl had gone already gone inside her Fox Run Drive home when the shooting took place but Nguyen’s girlfriend and her two young children were inside the car, reported the Telegram.

One of the bullets fired, traveled through the back driver’s side door of the car, lodging into the back seat near where the girlfriend’s 4-year-old son had been sleeping.
Awde apparently told Nguyen: “If you don’t stop pointing your finger in my face, I will shoot you,” then followed through when Nguyen responded: “Shoot me.”
Nguyen was shot twice and pronounced dead at the scene.
Following Awde’s arrest and subsequent release on bond in the case, he was prohibited from having any contact with his stepdaughter.
Rodgers said the young girl has been living with grandparents as her mother continued living with Awde.
He told the Telegram: “That little girl, who is now ten, has to go through life knowing that her mother’s husband murdered her father.”
“I don’t understand how she can have any normalcy after this.”
