U.S. collaborates with Vietnam to raise 25,000 helmets for kids

The safety of children is a priority that is universal in the world, and the U.S. Department of State and the Asia Injury Prevention Foundation (AIP) knows this better than anyone. They have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to launch a partnership to raise funds to improve traffic safety for the children in Vietnam.

Under the agreement, AIP and the US Embassy in Hanoi will organize events and helmet donations to support the pre-existing program Helmets for Kids.The agreement is part of activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the US and Vietnam. In Vietnam, where the main mode of transportation is motorcycles, helmets are essential for the prevention of head injuries. A total of 5,581 traffic crashes have been recorded in Vietnam in the first 3 months of 2015, killing almost half of those involved and injuring the others.
