Why Cyber Monday is actually the best day of the year to buy clothes

It’s just some event that the Big Bad Retail Marketers dreamt up in order to get us to spend more money online, right?



Well yes. And yes. Then there’s the “no” part. Cyber Monday, which debuted during the 2005 holiday season, might be a totally fabricated marketing scheme. But it’s a marketing scheme that worked—at least when it comes to stuff you want to buy yourself, and not necessarily others.



Nearly a decade later, there is no better day to shop for clothes and accessories before December 25 rolls around. Cyber Monday hits the sweet spot: The discounts are deep, but the range of products—quantity, styles and sizes—is still wide. While February is the best month overall for discounts, according to sales aggregator Shop It To Me , that doesn’t really help those of us looking for in-season items at a fat mark down. It also doesn’t help with your holiday shopping.
