Plainview senior Tony Phan (23), shown tackling a runner during the season, was a first team All-District 4-4A defensive back.
Two Plainview football players were selected to the All-District 4-4A first team and seven others were voted to the second team by the district’s coaches.
Senior Tony Phan was a first team defensive back and junior Paxstyn Oldfield was the unanimous selection as the all-district punter.
Phan was the Bulldogs’ shutdown cornerback this season, often guarding the opponent’s best receiver. He proved adept at blanketing receivers as well as being a sure tackler capable of coming up and helping out against the run.
Phan had one of Plainview’s three interceptions for the season and batted down numerous other passes.
Oldfield punted 29 times for a 38.7-yard average. Eight of his 29 punts were downed inside the opponent’s 20-yard line. His longest punt was 67 yards.
The Bulldogs’ second team selections include three offensive players and four defensive players.
Receiver Keevon Crump and tight end Desmond Vera were second team selections, as was center Brendan Voss.
Crump, a 6-foot-2 junior, led the team with 328 yards receiving on 13 catches (25.2 average). Eight of his 13 catches went for touchdowns. He had a long of 52 yards for the season.
Vera, a 6-2 senior, led the team with 20 catches, good for 321 yards (16.1 average) and six touchdowns. He did most of his damage during the district season.
Voss, a 6-1, 215-pound senior, anchored an offensive line that helped the Dogs average nearly 300 yards per game.
