With so many holiday parties and dinners at this time of the year, it’s perfectly normal to run out of things to talk about (after the weather, politics, and the latest celebrity Twitter feud—what else is there?!). But that’s where fashion comes in, dear readers.

So, I have a pre-New Year’s resolution: Wear accessories that aren’t simply pretty to look at but ones that are real conversation starters (or as I like to think: a way to break the ice in an awkward situation). Really, it’s all about layering statement necklaces. Go for bold, and don’t be shy. One of my favorite examples of this movement is from the Collective.
