ROMPIN: A Vietnamese man was fatally stabbed, believed to be by his own family member, in a fight early today over the victim’s failure to send money home.
Rompin district police chief, DSP Johari Jahaya said the victim was identified as Tran Van Mau, 29, and the suspect is believed to be his 25-year-old sibling.
He said the victim was stabbed close to his left armpit with a fish knife in a boat anchored at the Tanjung Gemok jetty in the 1am incident.
Johari said the incident happened when both men, who worked as fishermen and were staying at the jetty since three months ago, and some friends were chatting and drinking liquor in the boat.
“Suddenly, the two brothers had a heated argument, believed to be over the victim’s failure to remit money to their family in Vietnam.
