At about 1:45 p.m., a student reported finding a note near Room 318. Staff notified police, and the  school was put on lockdown, according to Garden Grove Police Lt. Ben Stauffer.

The lockdown lasted about two hours while Garden Grove police officers searched the school. At 3:50 p.m., they declared there was no bomb or any other threat.

Students were evacuated to Garden Grove Park, adjacent to the school ,where parents were able to pick them up.

On Sunday, there was a fire on campus that damaged classrooms, but Lt. Stauffer said there was no way to connect the fire and the bomb threat at this point.

Julie Villa, 57, has two grandchildren attending the school and said she was informed of the threat by one of her grandchildren.

“My granddaughter notified me by text just shortly before the school sent a text to me,” she said, her voice shaking. “It’s horrible that something like this happens, and no child or parent should go through this.”
