Hieu Trung Nguyen, 26, deliberately carried out the incident with the aim of being arrested and eventually returned to his home country, magistrates were told.
The Apple store in Bristol where Nguyen smashed three iPad2s (Express)

Jane Cooper, prosecuting, said Nguyen entered the Apple store in Bristol city centre on December 30 carrying a red house brick.
In total, the despairing culprit smashed three iPad2s which cost around £400 each, although no official value for the damaged devices were given in court.
Ms Cooper said: “He lifted the brick above his shoulders and brought it down on to an iPad2 display model. He caused the screen to smash.”
He then proceeded to smash the second iPad before dropping the brick onto the third tablet, she added.
A security team then arrived and removed him from the shop floor where he was taken out back and arrested, Ms Cooper told Bristol Magistrates’ Court.
Richard Nile, defending, said Nguyen “had suicidal thoughts for two to three months” and was desperate to return to Vietnam.
