With a growing number of candidates vying for the Democratic nomination for the Presidential election in 2016, former Virginia senator Jim Webb, just announced his candidacy.

Webb, 69, is a decorated Vietnam veteran and accomplished novelist. He has won an Emmy as a journlist and written over 10 best-selling novels. He also served as a Navy secretary under Republican President Ronald Reagan and has outlined a campaign message centered on helping working-class Americans compete in the economy.
He speaks fluent Vietnamese and is married to Hong Le Webb, a Vietnamese-American securities and corporate lawyer, twenty-two years his junior. Hong Le was born in South Vietnam and escaped to the United States when she was seven. They married in October 2005 and have one child together, Georgia LeAnh Webb. Webb is also a stepfather to Hong Le’s daughter from a previous marriage.

In the Senate, Webb focused on foreign affairs and veterans issues and was the driving force behind a GI Bill for post-9/11 veterans seeking to attend college after returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Webb said his first priority should he win the presidency, is: Education.
