18-year-old Thai Huynh is a quadrapelegic ever since a car driven by Christoper Araujo crashed on May 3, 2012.
In a letter to the court, Huynh forgave Araujo and asked for leniency for the person whose reckless driving changed his life. Because of his plea, the judge gave Araujo a suspended sentence that could have resulted in jail time.

Araujo, 21, has since graduated from college and became a nurse to help others.
Superior Court Judge Earl Richards sentenced Araujo, to a 1-year suspended sentence followed by three years of probation on the charge of first-degree reckless endangerment.
Police say Araujo was driving the 2002 Honda Accord at a high speed when it flew off the road, went across a grassy area, struck a utility pole, spun 180 degrees, struck a tree before rolling over. Huynh was ejected and left paralyzed while Araujo walked away with minor injuries. Police said they found an empty bottle of whiskey in the car.
