WESTMINSTER, Calif.– So you think you can walk? These models did and they gave it all they had this past weekend at the Westminster Mall as part of the casting call for Viet Fashion Week. As the site of this year’s Viet Fashion Week, the Westminster Mall also played host to a model casting call that saw over 300 people register for the event.

Model Steven Hong, 27, who has modeled in other fashion shows before, said he was excited.
“I haven’t walked for Viet Fashion Week before but I’m hopeful I’ll be chosen,” Hong said.
Rimarie, 21, walked in last month’s LA Fashion Week and said she gets nervous before she walks but after the first step, she’s in her element.
“I plan to slay,” Remarie said. “I’m going to give it all I have and show the designers I can be fierce and creative on the runway.”

In past years, models had to be 5’8 in order to be considered but with a petite womenswear designer Yvon Nguyen in the mix, models 5’6 and under were invited to audition as well. Designer Cynthia Bui said she is adding a wedding gown collection to this year’s show and was excited to see the talent.
“We generally look for really tall girls, with a pretty face, and can walk,” Bui said. “I’ve had girls from different countries model for me and they look good in ao dai.”
Stephanie Dang, 25, heard about the casting from a friend and thought it was worth a try.

“This is my first time auditioning, but it should be fun,” Dang said. “The more we do events like this for our community, the more people will know about it.”
