Australia’s 457 ‘king of visas’ is a road to serfdom for many migrants


The 457 visa in Australia is known as the “king of visas,” but some holders are not feeling very royal. After spending thousands to gain a visa with the promise of recouping their money in earnings, some people find the most they can earn is $15 an hour through part-time jobs. If true, that violates the regulation that visa holders must earn at least $53,000 a year, a requirement put in place to keep employers from exploiting workers.
