Ben Affleck was the talk of the town when Warner Bros. officially announced that the former Daredevil star was set to play the iconic Dark Knight in the upcoming Superman vs. Batman film. When Warner Bros. asked him to be the Caped Crusader, he initially wanted no part of it because he thought that he wasn’t the right fit. Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder thought differently and convinced him that he was the right man for the new take on Batman.
In an interview with Playboy Magazine, Ben Affleck reveals his thoughts on the negative reactions and why he was hesitant.
“I expected that reaction,” said Affleck. “Warner Bros. told me, ‘You should know what you’re getting into.’ They showed me the reactions to other folks who had been cast in these roles. They said this is how it tends to play out initially.”
“When they asked if I would be Batman, I told them I don’t see myself in the role and I was going to have to beg off. They said I’d fit well into how they were going to approach the character and asked me to look at what the writer-director, Zack Snyder, was doing. The stuff was incredible.”
Zack Snyder had a different vision for Batman, and he wanted it to be different from Christopher Nolan’s films while still staying true to the character.
