The Clements girls golf team returned to the UIL Class 5A state golf tournament with its top four players from 2013. The group shot an identical two-round score of 640 at Onion Creek Golf Club in Austin. This time that total ranked eighth as the Lady Rangers improved three spots.

Amber Wang repeated her 10th-place finish with a 149, leading Clements to rounds of 325 and 315. Wang followed a first-round 74 with a 75 on the final day.
All five Clements golfers shot 172 or better at the state tournament, including Miriam Dumes, who carded an 80 and an 82 for a 162 in her first trip to state. Beryl Wang (80-83—163), Samantha Waldeim (91-78—169) and Mindy Nguyen (92-80—172) completed the scoring, the latter two making impressive improvements in their second rounds.
Clements finished ahead of San Antonio Reagan, Seven Lakes, Mission Sharyland and Grapevine at the tournament, and was in a three-way tie for sixth with Smithson Valley and Southlake Carroll after the first round.
Fort Bend ISD was also represented in the Class 5A boys state tournament. Travis’ Brett Currie qualified as an individual medalist and carded rounds of 83 and 84 for a 167.
