GARDEN GROVE, Calif. ― Call it one-stop shopping for the
college-bound.
Garden Grove Unified School District students in grades six
through 12 and their parents are invited to learn about college planning at
workshops in March.
The GGUSD is partnering with Princeton Review and college
admissions experts to present free “Roadmap to College” programs on March 2
from 9 a.m. to noon at Pacifica High School, and repeated the following week
March 14 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at La Quinta High School.
Pacifica High is at 6851 Lampson Ave., Garden Grove, and
La Quinta High is at 10372 McFadden Ave., Westminster.
The events are “must attend” activities for students and
their parents eager for tools to navigate the college-preparation experience.
Attendees will have an opportunity to select from a number of topics being
explored each hour, including financial aid and scholarships; meeting course
requirements for college eligibility; understanding AP classes; NCAA
eligibility and athletic recruiting; choosing a college; selecting a major;
applying for private and out-of-state colleges; extracurricular activities;
application strategies for UC campuses; community colleges; college admissions
testing; and financial support opportunities for undocumented students.
Free childcare and interpretation in Vietnamese, Spanish
and Korean will be available.
