A number of Inland Valley residents received degrees or honors at colleges and universities throughout the nation recently:

• Christopher Brown of Pomona is spending Union College’s winter break studying in the South, getting an in-depth look at the Civil Rights Movement. Brown is majoring in English at the Schenectady, N.Y. college.
• Henry Nguyen of Ontario and a 2011 graduate of Ontario High School, participated in the fall 2013 Junior Semester Abroad program at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. Nguyen, who is majoring in East Asian studies at Bates, studied in China through the China Educational Tours – Chinese Studies program.
• A large number of local residents received diplomas at Azusa Pacific University’s recent winter commencement ceremonies.
