First lady Michelle Obama will travel to China later this month with a focus on reaching out to young people there and on sharing her travel experiences with young Americans, the White House announced Monday.

Obama, along with daughters Malia and Sasha and mother Marian Robinson, plans to visit Beijing, Xi’an and Chendu during her week-long trip, March 19-26.
The first lady will meet with Peng Liyuan, the wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, making up for what some in China saw as a slight last year when President Barack Obama met with Xi in California but the first lady did not make the trip, though Peng did.
