An 84-year-old man was struck by a van late Wednesday morning and was dragged about 50 feet before the vehicle stopped, police said.

The man was later identified by the coroner as Hoang Nguyen of Westminster.
Garden Grove police and fire officials responded to reports of a crash around 11:35 a.m. at Garden Grove Boulevard and Brookhurst Street.
A man was walking east on Garden Grove Boulevard and was crossing the street inside a crosswalk, police Lt. Ben Stauffer said.
Officials said as the man was crossing the street, a driver in a van traveling north on Brookhurst Street tried to turn onto eastbound Garden Grove Boulevard when he struck the man.
