The city of Garden Grove will play host to the Google-sponsored Startup Weekend June 5-7. The City Council voted to the co-sponsor the event, waiving $5,787 in fees. This event will be held at the Community Meeting Center.

Across the country, over 700 cities have hosted these startup weekends and Mayor Bao Nguyen is supportive of making Garden grove a hub and starting place for technology companies and startups.
Councilman Phat Bui, who owns his own IT consulting business, did not think it was worth the investment, saying most startups fail.
