Time to count your cash, bring your stomachs and indulge in fantastic street food at the Asian Garden Mall in Westminster.

The sixth annual Little Saigon Night Market, essentially an evening swap meet, kicked off this past weekend at the Asian Garden Mall and will run each weekend until September.

For many Vietnamese-Americans, the night market is a reminder of their homeland – a festival steeped in cultural authenticity.

“Other markets will have fusion Asian foods, but our vendors are more authentic,” said Lyna Le, Asian Garden Mall’s spokeswoman. “That was always the idea. Night markets have existed for a long time in Vietnam, and we brought it to Little Saigon.”

Unlike other Little Saigon gatherings, which often have specific cultural significance – such as the spiritually important Flower Festival leading up to the Lunar New Year or somber fall of Saigon commemorations – the night -market is meant to be pure fun.

This year, there will be more than 15 food vendors, even more merchants and a lineup of five musical groups each night.
