A Vietnamese man whose family emigrated to the United Kingdom at age 7 and who was extradited to New York appeared before a US Court today on five separate terror charges.
Minh Quang Pham, 32, pleaded “not guilty” to these charges that include
working for Al-Qaeda and receiving terrorist training. His family left
Vietnam when he was one month old and stayed in hong Kong for seven
years before they were granted asylum to Great Britain. He was granted
citizenship at age 12.

Authorities say he spent half a year in Yemen and pledged his support to Al-Qaeda. His wife told prosecutors he told her he was traveling to Ireland and was arrested in 2012. According to authorities, Pham worked as a graphic designer in London and used his skills to help wage jihad by helping Anwar Al Awlaki and Samir Khan publish the organization’s magazine, Inspire. Both were killed in a 2011 drone strike.
