While the earthquake that hit Nepal on April 25 left the nation devastated, one photo making the rounds on facebook and social media is misleading the masses.

The photo that has been circulating as two children of the Nepalese earthquake clinging to each other is actually a photo taken by freelance photographer and writer Na-Son Nguyen. Nguyen tweeted the real story behind his picture and said it was taken over 8 years ago of two ethnic Vietnamese Hmong children.
The photo, credited as ‘Two-year-old sister protected by four-year-old brother in Nepal’, went viral on Facebook and Twitter. Instead, Nguyen said that the two children were playing and in the presence of a stranger, the little girl started crying and her brother hugged her to comfort her.
