Vietnam’s heritage town first in Asia to offer free Wi-Fi everywhere

            Hoi
An, a UNESCO heritage town in central Viet Nam and a hugely popular tourist
destination, on Wednesday became the first location in Asia to offer free Wi-Fi
across its entire area.

            The
Wi-Fi service allows locals and tourists to access the Internet at 256 megabytes
per second.

            It
took two years and about  $1.2 million to
install the system around the town. Users who want to be connected will be
automatically led to the website hoiannet.vn, where they would enter “hoiannet”
as the username and “megawifi” as the password.
