At what age is it appropriate to start your child on a beauty routine? For one California woman, that age is 1. Tawana Davis, 30, brought her 1 year-old daughter with her to Excellent Nails Salon in Lancaster and requested owner Kathy Nguyen to paint the toddler’s nails.

Nguyen refused, saying Davis’ daughter was too young for a manicure. That’s when things got ugly. According to Nguyen, Tawana Davis then grabbed two bottles of nail polish and started painting her daughter’s nails herself. When Nguyen went to take the bottles back, she says Davis hit her.
However, that’s not what Davis said happened. She said she brought her own nail polish, and was still holding her baby daughter when Nguyen threw the first punch. Surveillance video shows the two women getting physical, hitting and pushing one another. Nguyen hit a silent panic button, summoning the sheriff’s deputies to the salon.
Davis was arrested on suspicion of robbery and later released from jail after posting $50,000 bail.
Nguyen has minor injuries to the side of her face and hair that was pulled out. Davis said she plans to file a lawsuit and that her daughter was traumatized.
