Newly appointed US and Vietnam Ambassadors meet to discuss plans

The newly appointed Vietnamese Ambassador of the United States Pham Quang Vinh and the Ambassador of the United States to Vietnam Ted Osius sat down for a special forum to discuss future goals.

Vinh says 2015 is a unique year to bring Vietnam and the US relationship to new heights. Osius said of the future going forward— “nothing is impossible.” He added that he “agreed with the vision that Mr. Vinh laid out.”

There are 5 areas that Osius said could use a more in depth look at are: trade, maritime security defense, environment, education and human rights.

Ambassador Vinh was appointed by President Truong Tan Sang in July 2014. Ambassador Osius was sworn in as U.S. ambassador to Vietnam in December 2014. Osius is the first openly gay ambassador to serve in Asia.
