checking account bonuses
It’s always nice when a company gives you an extra perk or discount on a product, especially when it’s something you really need. But when a bank or credit union is ready to give you free money simply for signing up for a checking account, it almost feels like payday came early.

The following five best checking account sign-up bonuses will give savvy savers and spenders alike a chance to manage their personal finances better.
1. Alliant Credit Union
The Deal: Customers of Alliant Credit Union who open an Alliant Free High Rate Checking account receive a $50 sign-up bonus.
The Catch: Customers must opt out of paper statements and receive only electronic statements via an email address. Checking account holders must also have at least one monthly electronic deposit a month connected to the account. Both requirements must be completed by Dec. 31, 2013, to qualify for the sign-up bonus.
2. Bank of America
The Deal: New Bank of America checking account holders can receive a $100 cash bonus using offer code BAW100N with their online application.
The Catch: Account holders have to set up and receive qualifying direct deposits totaling $2,000 every 30 days from the opening date of the checking account for 90 days. After 90 days the $100 checking account sign-up bonus will be deposited into the new account.
3. Chase
The Deal: When Chase depositors sign up for a new Chase Premier Plus Checking account, they can receive a $200 cash bonus offer with a coupon code and recurring direct deposit.
The Catch: Customers need to have a minimum opening deposit of $100 and have their first direct deposit post within 60 days of the account opening. The checking account sign-up bonus will only be deposited within 10 business days of the first direct deposit; the offer expires Nov. 26.
